All is Quiet on the Eastern Front! - Wade’s Weekly Issue 9

All is Quiet on the Eastern Front!
This week Speedway 660 sits silent. We are taking a little breather before the stretch run of the 2011 season. In just a month we will be heading into SpeedWeekend and the AutoValue 250. Fans, race teams, sponsors and track officials, employees and volunteers are all exciting about being a part of our region’s biggest and best racing event of the year.

But this week we all have other plans. It’s a great time to go fishing, hiking, mountain biking or to participate in a variety of other summer outdoor activities. But most important it’s quality family time away from the race track.
When we come back, we will start the stretch run with the RV World Street Stock 75. That will happen on Saturday, August 6th at 7 o’clock.

Sharpe Wins Enduro 200!

Posted on July 25th, 2011

July 23, 2011- The first Enduro of the year proved to be nothing less than a crowd pleaser with non-stop action including a record 6 rollovers including 3 spectacular barrel rolls.  Each segment was more entertaining than the previous with the 50 lap finale being the best of the best.

Nineteen cars hit the Geary oval in all, entertaining just over 2000 fans to their delight.   Early on in the night it was clear that the event would not disappoint.  The first car to do a barrel roll on the backstretch was the no. 5 of Richard Caissie just 5 laps into the event.    Shortly after that it was the 21B of Courtney Barton who had the most spectacular barrel roll in recent history.   Fans were on their feet as she rolled in the air over 4 times landing on her roof.  Tensions were up as she crawled out from the car, welcomed by a HUGE cheer from the crowd.

First ENDURO race of the year under the lights this Saturday Night!!

Posted on July 20th, 2011

Fredericton N.B. – After a successful stretch of racing in the regular divisions at Speedway 660, fans will be entertained by another great night of racing with a change from the usual Saturday nights under the lights.

This weekend the first ENDURO race of the season will run alongside the ENDURO 4 Cylinder Run’em Dry event. Speedway 660 Fans are the Best! - Wade’s Weekly Issue 8!

Posted on July 19th, 2011

What great fans we have at Speedway 660! Last Saturday, everyone was excited about a full night of racing that included the Best of the Best Pro Stock 150 and the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 100. Bandoleros, 4 cylinders and street stocks were also on the schedule.

The sun was shining but it was a little muggy when the first green flag of the evening flew. After an hour or so it started to rain. Sun shining, rain falling! I don’t think anyone left the premises. It took over an hour to dry out the track and resume action. With the rain delay we lost the hour we anticipated gaining by starting at 6 o’clock. So it was a late night and by the time all was said and done it was “mid-night-ish” when we hit the road home. But our fans hung in there and certainly got their money’s worth on an exciting night of racing.

The bottom line is this: fans make racing. You can have lots of sponsors and race teams, which are extremely important, but without a strong fan base you won’t be able to run a race track for long. And Speedway 660 certainly has got the fans. We appreciate your support and thank-you for making our brand of short-track racing a big part of your summer fun.

Fredericton, NB - All the way from Berwick, Pennsylvania to NASCAR and now to the Auto Value 250. NASCAR’s Mr Excitement has announced his intentions to enter the 11th Annual Auto Value 250 at Speedway 660. Spencer, who currently resides in Cornelius, North Carolina, is a household name from his days behind the wheel of a Sprint Cup car. He is perhaps best known for his on and off track rivalries with the likes of Kurt Busch. Tucker makes late move to take Parts for Trucks 100!

Posted on July 10th, 2011

Fredericton, NB - After watching Speedway 660 point’s leader Greg Fahey of St. Stephen lead the first 84 laps of the Parts for Trucks 100, Fredericton’s Shawn Tucker’s No. 52 car was good enough on the outside on the lap 83 restart to overtake Fahey en route to his first checkered flag of the Parts for Trucks Maritime Pro Stock Tour.

Starting ninth, Tucker moved quickly, but patiently to the front of the field. He was up to seventh by lap four, sixth by lap eight, and in the top five by lap 14.

Tucker continued his push towards the front, passing Maritime Pro Stock Tour point’s leader going into the race, Wayne Smith on lap 17 for fourth. He moved into third on lap 30 and by lap 48 he was directly behind Fahey.

The final 52 laps turned into a constant battle for first, with the caution on lap 83 bringing an end to Fahey’s dominance on the day.
