Weather Wins Again!

The weather wins again at Speedway 660.  Officials at the Speedway were forced to cancel tonight’s Coca Cola Refreshments Canada Day events as persistent rain showers and thunderstorms set in. There is no rain date for tonight’s events but the Coca Cola Refreshment festivities will be rescheduled.  Stay tuned for the date.

Next week Saturday night is a big one with the Parts For Trucks Pro Stock Tour in town for the Atlantic Dodge Dealers 100.

Racing Tonight!

The Coca Cola Refreshments Canada Day Celebration is on at 7PM at Speedway 660. Weather conditions are great and the pit gate opens for race teams at 2:30 this afternoon. The grandstands open at 5PM and the Hanwell Village Mart Bandolero and Four-Cylinder Division heat races begin at approximately 6:20. Heat races in the other divisions begin at 7PM.

Fans will see racing in the AL Gullison Disaster Kleenup Pro Stocks, Martins Home Heating Sportsman, RV World Street Stocks, Hanwell Village Mart Bandoleros and 4 Cylinders.

Ticket Prices:
Adults (16 and over) $12.00
Youth (ages 9-15) $9.00
Children (ages 8 and under) FREE
Family Pass (2 Adults, 2 Youth, 4 pop + 4 fries) $35.00

Fredericton- Canada Day festivities come a day early to Speedway 660 this year! The 2012 Coca-Cola Refreshments Canada Day Celebrations and an exciting Weekly Points Series event get underway Saturday at 7PM. Fans will see racing in five competitive divisions and a fireworks show after the last checkered flag of the evening.

A Conversation with Richard Atkinson: Speedway 660’s Excitable Guy!

Richard Atkinson is a proud member of the Canadian Forces and one of Speedway 660’s most loyal and dedicated racers. Atkinson, a veteran Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman Division driver, is an inspiration to everyone in the Geary Woods. Wade Wilson, Speedway 660 announcer, recently had a Conversation with Richard Atkinson.

Richard Atkinson is having a great season at Speedway 660. Our “Excitable Guy” loves those podium finishes and on Saturday night will be going for his fourth straight top three in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman Division.

Reflections in the Rain! - Wade’s Weekly #7

How was your weekend? Racing rain-outs always get me down. And last weekend was a real downer! Like all of our race fans, sponsors and teams, I was looking forward to the first big Sportsman event of the season. The Martin’s Home Heating 100 is always a great race and our home teams and visiting racers always put on an awesome show.

But Saturday was overcast and dreary with the odd shower thrown in for bad measure. And Saturday night, right about the time the hundred lapper would have started, the skies opened up and a steady rain began to fall. And Sunday was worse, at least here.

The Weekly Point Series Events at Speedway 660 thrill race fans of all ages. Five exciting divisions make our weekly show an unbelievable entertainment value for our fans.

Rained-out! - Martins Home Heating Sportsman 100!

The Martins Home Heating Sportsman 100 scheduled for tonight has been cancelled because of inclement weather. There is no rain-date for this event. Speedway 660 will look to reschedule this event on another weekend this summer.  Check back for further details.

Martin’s Home Heating 100: A WicKID, Wild Weekend for Sportsman!

Fredericton, NB: Some of Atlantic Canada’s best race teams are ready to roar into action Saturday evening at Speedway 660. The Martin’s Home Heating 100, one of the top Sportsman events of the year, will cap off a full evening of short-track racing in the Geary Woods.

“Sportsman is an exciting brand of racing and our fans know they will see great, competitive action during Saturday evening’s hundred lapper” said Speedway 660’s Chris Johnston. “We are proud of our weekly Sportsman drivers and know they will run hard to prove to our fans that they can meet the challenge of those strong visiting teams.”

Ken MacKenzie will drive the car he won the last two Speedway 660 Sportsman championships with during this weekend’s Martin’s Home Heating 100. MacKenzie and Dave O’Blenis will both run Sportsman and Pro Stock cars on Saturday evening.

Rivalries are Part of Racing! Wade’s Weekly #6

We are starting to see some good, old fashioned rivalries rise up at Speedway 660 this season. In case you haven’t noticed, racing is a competitive sport and when the competition heats up, racers are going to lean on each other, try to intimidate each other and do whatever it takes to get over to the Speedway 660 Victory Lane!

Rick Cashol, the defending RV World Street Stock champion, is no stranger to rivalries at Speedway 660!

Roy Takes Checkers, Atkinson on Top of The World With Third Straight Podium Finish!!

Richard Atkinson is still looking for his first Speedway 660 feature victory of the year. But the popular Geary driver is making a habit of finishing on the podium in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman Division. On Saturday night Atkinson finished second for the second straight week in the 30 lap Sportsman feature. Two weeks ago Atkinson finished third. Brent Roy won the race over Atkinson, while Glyn Nott came home third. Mark Harris won his sportsman heat and the dash, while Dave Biggar won the other heat.

“I really don’t know what to say, this is an unbelievable run for the third straight week” said Atkinson. “Three podium finishes at Speedway 660 is a big accomplishment for us and we hope to have another one next week at the Martin’s Home Heating hundred lapper.”
