SpeedWeekend 2013 is getting ready to roll out the best Sportsman teams in Atlantic Canada for their biggest race of the season. Tonight at 7PM, drivers will begin to qualify for the Irving Blending & Packaging 150 at Speedway 660. At the end of the night, one driver will end up in the Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane and receive five thousand dollars in prize money! The leader of lap 75 will receive the Modern Electric Half-Way Challenge Award of $500. Speedway 660’s Martins Home Heating Sportsman division drivers will face some tough competition from visiting race teams. A few Pro Stock drivers, are also strapping into Sportsman cars tonight for a shot at the big purse. The West Wood Estate Bandolero drivers are also part of tonight’s SpeedWeekend show. They will take on a large contingent of visiting drivers in two 25 lap “Bando Blasts”. Bando heat races are scheduled for 6:20PM and qualifying for the Irving Blending & Packaging 150 begins at 7PM.
Many of the top Sportsman and Pro Stock race teams in our region have already arrived at Speedway 660 for the biggest racing event of the season and more teams are on there way. The Irving Blending & Packaging 150 and the Auto Value 250 just got a little richer today thanks to Modern Electric!
Speedway 660 invites everyone down to the Geary Woods tonight for a FREE EVENT to kick-off SpeedWeekend 2013 in style! Corn-on-the-cob, from Harvey’s Family Farms, will be served up by the RE/MAX Group Four Realty Relay for Life team. Tristan Horncastle and his red-hot band will perform songs from the new country music album he recently recorded in Nashville. DJ Dale Case will spin more tunes and the Speedway 660 staff can’t wait to ignite the biggest bonfire of the year! So come on down and mingle with the drivers, talk some racin and have lots of fun. There’s no better way to dive into the biggest and most exciting weekend of short-track racing in Atlantic Canada. It all gets underway tonight at 7PM.
SpeedWeekend is almost here. Fans have been arriving and setting up camp in the Geary Woods all week. Everyone is excited about the Irving Blending & Packaging 150 on Saturday night and the Auto Value 250 on Sunday. Speedway 660 has just released the race day schedules for both days.
Speedway 660 is ready to host Atlantic Canada’s biggest stock car racing event of the season. SpeedWeekend gets underway on Friday evening with a free event for fans, campers, race teams and sponsors. The racing schedule includes the Irving Blending & Packaging 150 (Sportsman) on Saturday, the Auto Value 250 (Pro Stock) on Sunday and the ENDURO 200 Championship on Monday.
For the last two years we have posted weekly conversations on the Speedway 660 web site. These conversations featured drivers and other people associated with racing in the Geary Woods. Heading into SpeedWeekend 2013, Wade Wilson asked several folks about the importance of this weekend’s event.
Over $70,000 will be on the line when the Auto Value 250 goes green on Sunday night. The winner of the race will win at least $15,000 and could take home almost $30,000! With lap money of $12,500 and the Modern Electric half-way challenge of $1500, it will be one of Canada’s biggest Pro Stock race day purses. The Irving Blending & Packaging 150 on Saturday night pays five thousand dollars to the winner of our region’s richest Sportsman race of the season.
Wow, it’s almost the end of August already and that means the biggest weekend of racing is just days away. SpeedWeekend 2013 is so close you can almost taste it! Speedway 660 is a bee-hive of activity this week as lots of last minute things are being done to prepare for the big event. Motor-homes, trailers and RV’s of all shapes and sizes are either already here or soon to be on their way. Thousands of fans and well over a hundred race teams have made plans to head our way for SpeedWeekend.
Speedway 660 celebrated a great season of point racing on Saturday with Fan Appreciation Night of Champions. The weather was perfect, the racing was awesome and the 2013 Champions and Rookie of the Year award winners were decided. Check out this week’s photo album of champions, rookies and podium finishers.
Greg Fahey did something on Saturday night that no other driver has ever done in the history of Speedway 660. Fahey won the 2013 Martins Home Heating Sportsman division title and became the first driver to win titles in all three of Speedway 660’s top divisions.
