Mascot Challenge & Ladies Night on Tap for Fredericton Inn Night at Speedway 660

Posted on July 3rd, 2008

Fredericton, NB - After a long weekend of rest for stock car fans and drivers alike, Speedway 660 will return this weekend with some action packed points racing in all three divisions plus the Mascot Challenge during intermission AND the Powder Puff Race. Once a season the ladies get their night to shine and this Saturday, under the lights, the girls get to show the boys how it’s done. The drivers of the Coast Tire Street Stock division give up their car for this event. Fans can expect to see some exciting racing as the girls always put on a good show.

If you have ever been to any sports event, as a fan you know that those team mascots can do some crazy things; well Speedway 660 plans to do just that. Over the past few weeks, Speedway 660 has invited mascots from various companies to entertain the fans for the intermission period doing various competitions to see who will be the top mascot in the Geary woods. Will it be Speedway the Moose, coming from his home track or will it be one of his fellow competitors, hunting him down.

This weekend there will also be Regular Points racing in all three divisions. The Irving Lubricants Pro Stocks, Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman and Coast Tire Street Stock will be roaring through the Geary woods at their usual start time of 6:00pm this Saturday night. The points battle in each division keeps getting tighter and tighter as we move through the middle of our season.

In the Coast tire Street Stock division the #20 of Jason Shannon has a ten point lead over the #54 of past champion Rick Cashol. Not to far behind Cashol and Shannon is former 2007 champion, Mike Francis in the #23, with only an eleven gap between Shannon and Francis. In the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division Glyn Nott in the #12 has had an outstanding year already taking home the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 100 along with a first place feature win the following weekend. However Nott isn’t out of the clutches of the #44 of George Jamieson who is currently in a tie for first position with Nott. Could this tie breaker become a new points leader? In the Irving Lubricants Pro Stock division, the big boys had a few weeks to rest from regular points racing. Currently in the pro stock division the #20 of Greg Fahey holds a mere five point lead of the charging Brent Wiggins in the #17. Wiggins has had an outstanding kick off to the 2008 season with two podium finishes already this year! Could Wiggins close this gap on Fahey this weekend and take over the points lead?

After a long weekend of rest and relaxation, what better way to kick off July then to start all the hype for the 2008 Leisure Family RV Centers SPEEDWEEKEND and the Peterbilt 250. Yesterday, July 2nd, was the first opening day to all returning 2007 campers and reserved ticket holders and the phone lines were ringing off the hook! If you are looking to renew a campsite or reserved tickets please e-mail, fax, or call to place your order or check out www.speedway660.com for more details regarding events and the new campground layout.

Which lady will take home the win this weekend? Who will be the adventurous one to make the first spin? Will the points see a leader change in all three divisions? Only the fans who attend this Saturday night’s race at Speedway will know so check out Speedway 660 for some WicKID family fun!
