Who will be the Faster Pastor?

Posted on August 20th, 2008

Fredericton, NB - The anticipation is building each week as Leisure Family RV Center’s SPEEEDWEEKEND approaches. The excitement has been turned up an extra notch as NASCAR Craftsman Truck driver Ron Hornaday has recently been announced as the newest addition to the list of Peterbilt 250 entries. Aside from the SPEEDWEEKEND excitement, this weekend at Speedway 660 fans will see the first ever Faster Pastor event at Speedway 660. Clergymen from around the region have signed up to take their shot at glory and see if they can be the Faster Pastor! It will also be one of the few chances drivers have to get their championship points before the end of the season. Fredericton Mitsubishi has hopped on board this season to sponsor this weekends points racing.

Last weekend fans were treating to some great points racing in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division and the Irving Lubricants Pro Stock division. In the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division the #9 car of Derek Christie, a rookie driver to this division, took home a feature win to add to the rest of his podium finishes for this season. Currently in this division the top four contenders are separated by a mere two points, with Glyn Nott leading the pack by one point over a tie for second place between the #69 of Brian Gillespie and the #26 of Brent Roy. In the third spot is the #29 of Matt Maillet. The Irving Lubricant’s Pro Stock division haven’t had many opportunities to race for their division points; which means every little point counts. This past weekend Matt Harris took home his first feature win of the 2008 season but unfortunately all his wins throughout the evening could not close the points gap between him and current points leader Greg Fahey in the #20 machine. Greg Fahey to date holds a 29 point lead of Matt Harris and a 30 point lead of Brent Wiggins in the #17. This weekend the Coast Tire Street Stock division will return for points racing after their big event, the Dent Daddy 75, last weekend. Currently in the Street Stock division the #54 of Rick Cashol holds a 6 point lead over the #2 of Matt Matheson while the third place contenders, Mike Francis in the #23 and Jason Shannon in the #20 stand at a tie for third. This weekend could see a rank change in all three divisions with the points being so close.

With Leisure Family RV Centers SPEEDWEEKEND approaching fast (only 10 days away!) Speedway 660 officials are making all kinds of announcements and preparations for the BIG weekend. This past weekend co-owners Steven Burns and Chris Johnston made the big announcement that three time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champ, Ron Hornaday, has confirmed his entry in the Peterbilt 250. A few weeks earlier the announcement of Andy Santerre was made who will also compete in the big race. Campground reservations are filling up fast and ticket sales are booming. Make sure you don’t miss out on this great weekend and get your tickets soon. For more information on ticket prices and scheduling please go to our website at www.speedway660.com.

With the last jammed packed weekend before SPEEDWEEKEND it will be one weekend you won’t want to miss. Make sure you swing out to the Geary woods this Saturday to have some WicKID family fun and purchase your tickets for the biggest stock car event at Speedway 660.
