Speedway 660 Awards Banquet Sets Stage for an Exciting 2011 Season!

Posted on January 30th, 2011

FREDERICTON: Saturday night at the Fredericton Inn Speedway 660 held its annual Awards banquet to honour the champions and award winners from the past season.  With a great crowd on hand this evening is always a hit as a mid winter gathering to celebrate the past years events and get excited about the upcoming season.

The big winners in 2010 were division champions Chris Duncan, Ken Mackenzie, Rick Cashol, Ryan Messer, Kevin Peterson and Pat Sharpe.

This years Hughie Yorke Dedication to the Sport award was presented to long time supporters Richard and Ann Martin of Martins Home Heating.

In addition the Phil Cox Ironman Award was presented to Edna McRae and her two daughters, Donna and Dianna on behalf of their late husband and father, Sonny McRae.  Sonny was a long time “super fan” at Speedway 660 that passed away in spring 2010.

A sneak peak of the 2011 tentative schedule was released Saturday night with the major events that make up a great summer of racing.  Returning again in 2011 is a stop on the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) out of New England.  PASS will be running a 200 lap event on June 11th.  Speedway 660 will also see a stop on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Schedule with a 100 lap event on July 9th.

Speedway 660 will also see the growth of the highly popular kids Bandolero division and the 4 cylinder division.  The 2011 Bandolero roster has already double from 2010 with 16 cars registered for 2011.

Several successful changes of recent years will continue in 2011 including the 7pm start times, Sunday Enduros as well as ending the season the 10th Annual SPEEDWEEKEND celebration on Labour Day Weekend.

Atlantic Canada’s biggest motor sports event will continue to grow in 2011 with the 11th annual storied Auto Value 250. Fans can look forward to an even bigger event for this year’s Labour Day Sunday.

The entire 2011 schedule is expected to be released in late February in conjunction with more exciting news.
