Everyone in Atlantic Canada’s racing community is excited about SpeedWeekend 2012. Lots of folks from Quebec and New England are also on their way to Speedway 660 for the biggest event of the racing season.
Before focusing on SpeedWeekend, let’s look back at one of the most eventful Fan Appreciation Night of Champions in the history of Speedway 660. First off congrats to all of the champs: Cole Boudreau, Luc McLaughlin, Shannon Brake, Glyn Nott and Dave O’Blenis.
They deserve the accolades and recognition that goes with winning Speedway 660 championships. Two division titles were especially hard fought this year. Glyn Nott went into the final point night in fourth place, 17 points out of first. Glyn controlled his own destiny by winning the heat, dash and feature to take the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman title by four points. Shannon Brake started the night nine points behind the leader and won the RV World Street Stock championship by two points.

Shawn Tucker is the defending Auto Value 250 winner and one of the favourites heading into the 2012 race. This weekend Tucker will attempt to become the first three time winner of the race. More than thirty other top Pro Stock drivers from Atlantic Canada, New England and Quebec will visit Speedway 660 for this year’s Auto Value 250.

Fredericton N.B. - Burton’s, Glyn Nott is the 2012 Martin’s Home Heating Champion at Speedway 660. After thirteen years in the division Nott finally earned the title that has eluded him over the years. Nott trailed Sportsman point leader Randy Moore by 17 points heading into the Fan Appreciation Night of Champions. But Nott won his heat, dash and the feature to claim the championship.
“It took a hat trick to get the job done tonight and it is unbelievable that we finally got the Sportsman championship and you know what, this team and my family along with our sponsors made this happen” said a jubilant Nott in Speedway 660’s Victory Lane. “It took thirteen years to win this thing and we are going to celebrate this title in a big way.”
Nott took the checkered flag three times on the biggest point night of the year. Bradley Logan won the other heat. Matt Rodgers finished second in the feature and Jason Shannon came home third. Matt’s brother Andrew Rodgers was the Sportsman rookie of the year.

The Fan Appreciation Night of Champions Event is on at 7PM at Speedway 660. The pit gate opens for race teams at 1:30 this afternoon. The grandstands open at 5PM and the ONTRACK autograph session starts at 5:30.
Hanwell Village Mart Bandolero and Four-Cylinder Division heat races begin at approximately 6:30. Heat races in the other divisions begin at 7PM.
Fans will see racing in the AL Gullison Disaster Kleenup Pro Stocks, Martins Home Heating Sportsman, RV World Street Stocks, Hanwell Village Mart Bandoleros and 4 Cylinders.

Youth (ages 9-15) $9.00
Children (ages 8 and under) FREE

Saturday will be one of the most exciting and entertaining nights of the 2012 season at Speedway 660. The annual Fan Appreciation Night of Champions kicks off at 5:30PM with every car, in all five racing divisions, parked on the front stretch. Drivers and crews will be there too for the popular autograph session. Racing begins at 7PM and championships will be awarded after every feature race.
“The Fan Appreciation Night of Champions is a hit with our fans because they get to go out on the track before the races to get autographs, take photos and talk to the drivers” said Speedway 660’s Steve Burns. “Then we get down to the serious business of seeing who will race their way to our five divisional championships.”

Fan Appreciation Night of Champions is always an exciting event at Speedway 660. An on-track autograph session, prize draws for fans and championships, awarded in all five racing divisions, make this Saturday one of the most entertaining nights of the racing season. The Four Cylinder Division, at Speedway 660, has seen its car count grow from single digits to more than twenty in just two years. In addition to attracting more cars and fan interest, the new division has also attracted a new corporate sponsor. Beginning today it will be called the Fredericton Jewellers Four Cylinder Division.
“Gary and Mona Mossman, from Fredericton Jewellers, are long time race fans who have recognized a great opportunity to sponsor racing” said Speedway 660’s Steve Burns. “On behalf of our four cylinder racers and great fans, I want to thank Gary and Mona for helping us grow racing by sponsoring this exciting division.”

This weekend is all about fans and drivers. It’s our annual Fan Appreciation Night of Champions. On Saturday at about 5:30PM all of the cars, in every division, will be parked on the front stretch of Speedway 660. Drivers and crews will be out there too for Atlantic Canada’s largest autograph session!
Fans will have a chance to meet the drivers, check out the cars, take photos and get some neat treats and other hand-outs from the race teams. It’s a once-a-year, not to be missed event. And it’s quite a sight to see all of the cars on the track at the same time.

Saturday is Fan Appreciation Night of Champions at Speedway 660. The final points race of the year begins at 7PM, but fans are invited for an on-track autograph session at 5:30. Draws for lots of great prizes will be held all evening and Championships will be awarded in all five racing divisions.

August 19, 2012- Pat Sharpe is out to win his fourth straight Enduro championship at Speedway 660 and on Sunday afternoon he won his second Enduro 200 of the season to extend his points lead in the division. But it wasn’t an easy ride for the driver from Woodstock. Late in the race Sharpe was broad-sided by another car, but his crew worked its magic to get him back out on the track for the win.
“This crew is amazing, they are the ones who put the number 51 in the Speedway 660 Victory Lane today” said an excited Sharpe. “The old car is in bad shape right now, but we’ll get her fixed up and ready for the final Enduro 200 on SpeedWeekend.”

Fredericton N.B. -Ken MacKenzie won the Martin’s Home Heating Firecracker 150 at Speedway 660 on Saturday night. MacKenzie passed his friend Dave O’Blenis to win the three thousand dollar first place prize money in one of Atlantic Canada’s biggest Sportsman races of the season.
“We finally won one of these things” said a jubilant MacKenzie in the Speedway 660 Victory Lane. “We won two Sportsman championships but never have been able to win one of these big races until tonight and it is was especially sweet to finally beat my good friend Dave O’Blenis.”
